The school building has only one entrance from High Street. But as the greater part of the population of this street belongs to a very low class, it is intended to shut the entrance from that street and to make a new entrance from the Western Street through the compound of the Basel Mission. But as the level of this compound is twelve feet lower than the level of the school, a verandah is to be erected with a staircase leading down from the school to the Basel Mission compound (see fig. C.)

Messrs Bird + Palmer, architects in Hong Kong, have made a plan and an estimate for the enlargement and improvement of the Basel Mission school in High Street as shown above, and Mr. Wong Ato, contractor in Hong Kong, is ready to execute this plan for six hundred dollars.
